Platelet Rich Fibrin

Are You Ready For PRF?

PRF injections are a non-invasive,  natural alternative treatment in anti aging, revolutionary anti-wrinkle and skin rejuvenation using your own blood. PRF is commonly referred to as “True Blood Therapy” or “Vampire Therapy,” and involves the use of blood fibrin, enriched to increase the concentration of platelets. These platelets contain bioactive proteins and growth factors that serve to accelerate tissue repair and regeneration, and activate stem cells.

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is now becoming popularized as a replacement and improvement for PRP in the quest for the ultimate autologous blood concentrate in aesthetics. The volume of fluid obtained is not as high as with PRP but the concentrate produced, however, seems to be highly efficacious for aesthetic applications. A review article from 2013 found PRF to be superior to PRP for wound healing, less costly, and easier to prepare.

This PRF is injected back into your skin and acts as stimulants to your own damaged skin cells, supporting collagen production which is stimulated over two to three weeks to naturally reduce or eliminate lines, folds, and wrinkles. Soon, skin starts repairing itself and producing more collagen. This revolutionary treatment in facial aesthetics and anti-aging is a natural alternative to Botox and fillers, giving a healthier, smoother, and more youthful appearance.

PRF Injections

Injecting platelets into the dermis stimulates collagen and can help correct fine lines, Rosacea, and acne scarring. The PRP injections are not used as a volumizer, but rather as a corrector for these skin issues. PRP is also extremely successful in treating hair loss in young men. One must start before the hair loss becomes significant. The procedure also prevents hair from falling out. Typically, it takes three treatments with a maintenance treatment every six to 12 months. People like this procedure because it uses one’s own platelets. It is frequently used with other fillers and also with laser treatments. Results last up to 18 months can can be done annually.

Below, we outline some of the PRP treatments available at Split Rock Aesthetic Institute:

PRF with Microneedling Facial

The micro needle facial uses a device called the Cosmo Pen of France.  This automated adjustable micro needling instrument vertically penetrates the outer layer of skin with a vibrating motion. The technique’s pinpoint delivery system stimulates and revitalizes collagen production by driving highly effective medical serums or your own Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) deep into the skin , minus the downtime associated with other collagen-increasing protocols. There is no heating or laser energy needed.

Depending on the patient’s condition and desires he/she may chose a single treatment or a series of treatments separated by four weeks.

PRF FOR Hair Restoration

Hair Loss Treatments for Men and Women using PRF Technology

Combining PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) & ACell injections to treat hair loss is the most advanced regenerative protocol today! It’s a very NATURAL process. Adding ACell reduces the need for more office visits and makes the treatments much more palatable and effective.

For hair restoration, PRF will be injected into the scalp. The application of PRF causes miniaturized hair follicles to become healthier and larger, producing more robust hair growth. PRF activates follicular progenitor cells (adult stem cells) and PRF is loaded with growth factors that promote rapid angiogenesis and localized cell growth. Effective for both male and female pattern hair loss, PRF has also regrown hair in alopecia area, eyebrow hypotrichosis and other patient cases with non-hereditary hair loss.

What is platelet rich fibrin PRF?

  • PRF stands for Platelet-Rich FIBRIN

  • A new effective treatment option for people who have severe forms of hair loss problems

  • Stimulate human dermal fibroblasts and improve wrinkling

  • It is considered a great alternative to surgery

  • Safe and promotes natural healing

  • Can increase the yield of transplanted follicular units for those with androgenetic alopecia

  • Has full complement of clotting and growth factors

How long is recovery time?

The recovery from PRF therapy is typically uneventful. Pain is easily managed in most cases with non-narcotic analgesic medication such as Ibuprofen. Some mild swelling of the forehead is occasionally seen 4-6 hours after PRF injections. This is normal and will resolve in 48 hours. There is no other downtime or noticeable effects of the procedure. Patients can wash their hair normally immediately after the injections. A PRF treatment takes about 80 minutes to complete. First, a blood sample is obtained which is specially processed to produce the PRF. A local anesthetic is then administered to completely numb the scalp treatment area. If desired, a sedative can be administered. The PRF are combined and then administered via a series of injections over the full scalp or in a localized treatment area such as the eyebrows or beard.

How soon can I expect results?

New hair growth can be seen as early as 2 months, but is typically evident between 5-8 months and will continue to improve up to a year after treatment.
